The biblical parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:30-37 describes a Samaritan man who stops with heart-felt compassion to care for an injured traveler.
At Good Samaritan, these types of compassionate acts are at the very root of our mission—evident in every corner of our organization every day.
Not surprisingly, the Good Samaritan Community Services Program remains the largest comprehensive collection of social service programs in Washington for pre-infancy through end of life .
During 2003 alone, Good Samaritan made more than 9,000 visits to care for hospice patients, provided more than $9 million in charity care to patients who could not afford to pay for their care, provided needed therapies to 1,170 children with neuromuscular disorders at our Children’s Therapy Unit, and conducted more than 92,000 hours of service for mental health clients.
