Arts and culture
For eleven months out of the year, Puyallup seems like a slumbering
farming community. But each September, the spotlight of Western Washington
centers on Puyallup as the state’s largest fair, the Puyallup Fair, comes to
town. Arguably the biggest yearly event on the town calendar, the Puyallup
Fair is just one of the area’s many popular arts and culture features.
Puyallup is also the proud home of the annual spring Daffodil Festival. These large-scale festivals, combined with a full gamut of music, art, theater and historical museum events held throughout the year, bring a high level of quality cultural opportunities to Pierce County.
Fairs and festivals
At the heart of small-town America is the county
fair. Over the years, Puyallup has taken the idea of county fairs and
festivals to a whole new level. Each year, thousands from across the
state travel to Puyallup to enjoy the best of rural Washington at the
Puyallup Fair and the Daffodil Festival.
Puyallup Fair
Each September, Washingtonians are encouraged
to “Do the Puyallup!"—the slogan of the Puyallup Fair. Washington’s biggest
fair, this three-week event brings headlining musicians and comedians
to its main stage, as well as all the rides, food, barnyard animals and
handicraft displays of a traditional county fair.
Many Washington residents consider the Puyallup Fair a “must do" and return year after year with their families. For information on this year’s fair dates, performers, special features, maps, directions and more, click here to go to the official site of the Puyallup Fair.
Daffodil Festival
In the spirit of community and the excellence and integrity
of Puyallup-area youth, the annual Daffodil Festival was born. Held each
April in Puyallup, the entire festival climaxes with the Grand Floral
Street Parade, including floats and a royal court of locally-crowned
youth. This popular parade travels through the cities of Orting, Puyallup,
Sumner and Tacoma. For more information on this year’s festival, click
